To promote dance and film arts in Idaho and around the world. The festival is a virtual museum, showcasing a diverse range of artistic work that combines choreographic and film/video practice, and connecting Idaho audiences with screendance artists everywhere.

The Idaho Screendance Festival was founded in 2018 by Marla Hansen, Rachel Schroeder Swenson, Alyssa Tolman, and Dr. Rulon Wood. It is presented by the Idaho Dance Education Organization, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the Idaho state affiliate of the National Dance Education Organization.

Venues vary from year to year. The 2026 festival screened at The Flicks in Boise on July 15 and continued with a workshop and screenings at Idaho Fine Arts Academy in Meridian on July 16. Admission is free and open to all ages. The location for the next festival will be announced here.
